Fall in Nashville If you’ve never spent the fall in Nashville, you may not be familiar with the absolute madness that is Americana Music Festival and Conference. For 5 days the city is going to host over 230 live performances at 40 different venues. The trouble with having that many shows in under a week is that you have to skip some. I’m excited to see household names like the Lumineers, and up and coming stars like Amanda Shires and The Drive By Truckers.  There’s a handy tool in the iPhone app store called “AmericanaFest” that can help you schedule what shows you want to see on what day. I won’t like that I’ve been sort of overwhelmed trying to fit everything I want to see in. But then again, my most memorable experiences from last year were accidentally seeing a band I had never heard of and getting blown away. Americana Honors and Awards Show The crown jewel of the long weekend is the Americana Honors and Awards Show on September 13th, hosted by Jim Lauderdale at the ...

THIS IS THE DANNY JOHNSON BAND…. OR IS IT?

Image
“The Blues Is Back…And It’s Alive And Well!” – in the heart and the hands of Danny Johnson! About two years ago, Danny retired from “playing out”…which means he did not really perform any more.  After a life time of making a living playing as a performing musician, He finally got burned out of traveling, setting up and tearing down equipment.  Many of us can relate to this. Danny has never lost his love of playing…but for now, the fire is out for performing live. He wanted to spend more time at home with my family. If you ask Danny e will tell you “God has been gracious to me…I have a beautiful wife, a loving family, a warm home…financially comfortable…physically healthy…happy and still filled with a love for music and the creative spirit behind it.” For years he has been writing and recording songs from his home studio. “As long as I have been doing this…I have always enjoyed this creative process…how you sta...

PAVLOV’S BELL IS RINGING OUT AND IT’S TIME FOR ALL TO PARTAKE! Who is Pavlov’s Bell?  “ Pavlov’s Bell is an instrumental band. The music is a blend of experimental, jazz and psychedelic rock.” What is your story?  “ The band was formed in 2015 by bassist and composer Antonio Pereira. Shortly after composing short ideas and having a rough idea of what the band should sound like, he recruited long time friend and former bandmate Jorge Fernandez to play guitar and help compose. Jorge’s jazz chops blended with Antonio’s psychedelic bass tones created the foundation of the bands sound. About three months later drummer Francisco Lujan joined the group. His progressive drumming style added another voice to the group, giving the compositions a strong backbone. The band recorded and played shows as a three piece until December 2016; when Santiago Suarez joined the group on the synthesizer.” Where are you guys from?   “We’re from Miami” How has your location ...
