MEET THE HARD ROCKIN’ ARTIST WHO TRULY IS DIZZYNDEAF!

BSIR meets up with DizzynDeaf a guitarist/singer/songwriter who writes music based on Hard Rock, Metal, & Blues. The name “DizzynDeaf” was adopted after being diagnosed with Meniere’s Disease in 2014. He carries on with his music, giving the “middle finger” to the disease in spite of losing his hearing and suffering from disequilibrium and bouts of vertigo.
“MUSIC SAVES LIVES. #FMENIERESDISEASE #DIZZYNDEAF My music (DizzynDeaf) is also available at Amazon and iTunes.”

So, DnD, what’s your story? In 2014 I experienced sudden hearing loss (partial and intermittent) in my left ear. After lots of tests doctors diagnosed me with MENIERE’S DISEASE, an incurable inner ear disorder/disease. Over time, Meniere’s Disease kills the cells in the inner ear that are responsible for conducting sound waves; the result, progressive hearing loss. Meniere’s Disease has taken my low frequency hearing in my left ear, and my hearing quality fluctuates. My vestibular organ in left inner ear has been permanently damaged by Meniere’s Disease, resulting in me having balance and vertigo problems. Thankfully, there are medications that I take that ease most of the daily symptoms which allows me to have a pretty normal life. However, Meniere’s Disease symptoms do flair up regularly usually resulting in me having to spend lots of time lying down. Things could be worse. I hate that I have MD, but I am grateful for the hearing I have left at this time and I am grateful that I don’t have something worse.
Where are you from?I live in Antioch, California, in the United States of America.
Has your location influenced your music?Yes, I think it’s fair to say that this (as with any) location has somewhat influenced my music at one time or another.
Who are your heroes?People with “disabilities.” Especially people with Asperger’s, Autism, retardation, Down’s, depression, etc…. I also think kids battling diseases like cancer are truly heroes. American service members are also heroes in my opinion. As are our police officers and emergency service agencies (fire, ambulance, etc). Musically, my heroes would include Nikki Sixx and Steve Sage.
What is your favorite piece of gear and why?My 2017 Studio Gibson Les Paul. It’s feels so good and sounds so great. It practically plays itself. I love the way it looks and sounds and plays, and I really really love the G-Force tuners.
What are you going to be working on the next 6 months?Making as much music as I can and getting it published so the whole world can hear it.
What have you been doing the last 6 months?Making music and publishing it online and on various radio stations.
What do you want or readers to know?I’d like them to take a minute to learn more about Meniere’s Disease and it’s effects on people. It’s my understanding that only about 3% of the world population have this disease. As such, there’s not much incentive for folks to try to find a cure or advanced treatments. I’d also hope that people would like my music, my sonic art, and like me. I know that’s a bit shallow, but it does feel nice to know people care sometimes.
